After looking and reading at the lyrics of this song by Casting Crowns, I begin to reflect on my life. These songs evoked my thinking about myself and pull out all my secret life. For the whole life I have been asking of who am I? These whole lyrics represent my reality. Honestly, I don’t dare to face my past but.. “I am the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done according to your word”..Luk 1:38
“ I am a flower quickly fading, here today and gone tomorrow” Gasping..is the only word that can describe my feeling now. This sentence contains deep meaning. Yes, I am this flower…
God is the only reason why I become aware of who am I. God’s love is like the ocean. It’s never end. He never abandoned me. What He wants is my openness, my love to Him. In my entire life I tried to hide myself...tried to run away from Him..tried to ignored the real “ME”..but.. “Lord, You catch me when I’m falling, and You’ve told me who I am..I am Yours”…I am tired…tired of many questions…but…these questions if I face it…will become a blessing to me to see what is inside me..the real ME…and to see it I have to sit at God’s feet..listen to Him..surrender to Him…open my heart…have faith…hope…but the greatest of these is LOVE..1 cor 13:13.
Without God’s love I am nothing..Without LOVE I won’t be able to smile again, to feel the laughed, the air even my breath…because of these great LOVE I was able to walk again… God says: "I will love you with an everlasting love. I will be faithful to you, even when you run away from me, reject me, or betray me."
A flower needs sun to let it grow and bloom. It’s same to us as human being, we need Gods love and the love of God has been poured out into our hearts (Rom 5:5), the love that has been given to us without charge. This Gods love is a grace from God…“Not because of who I am, but because of who you are”…He loves me not because of any righteous deeds I have done, but because of His mercy (Titus 3:5)
The song opened my eyes to see that I was thirsty with God’s love and only a perfect love can make me satisfied…only God can satisfy me. God created me for Him and I am belonging to Him. Of course we can learn love through our experience with people around us but only through God we will experience the real meaning of love. Because God loves all His people “for He makes His sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust” (Mat 5:45) this love is an EVERLASTING LOVE.
Every people after experienced the love of God also being called to love. The love of God alone will pull us to be able to love. Praise to the Lord, through this LOVE, now, I am able to answer the question WHO AM I..through the power of LOVE I can see myself glooming and blooming everyday..it’s like the love of Jesus to His disciple has changed their lives. I begin to see that “In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as expiation for our sins” (1 JN4:10) We love because He first loved us. Praise and Thanks to God!
Finally, thanks to all the people around me and to all of you who helped me discovered “ME” ..and…I am really precious...imagine how precious we are when God said “don not be afraid. You are worth than many sparrows” (Luk 12:7) Isn't it obvious? He’s already told me who I am. He created me in His image (Gen 1:26-27)
This is my story…how about you?...I believe all of us have our story about God…let us become a witness of God’s love… “I tell you solemnly, many prophets and holy men longed to see what you see, and never saw it; to hear what you hear, and never heard it”..(Mat 13:17)
